The Ojai Treehouse is a Midcentury Modern gem, a tranquil home, an artist’s/writer’s retreat, a chef’s delight! Built in the late 1960s, it features floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto mature California Oaks, citrus and olive trees, and a fragrant herb garden. The deeply-shaded garden has a gas grill and an outdoor dining space with solar hanging lights, and peaceful seating nooks perfect for a cup of morning coffee or an apéritif in the evening and a hammock perfect for an afternoon nap.

The space
This two bedroom, two bath house (1 king, 1 queen) has a wraparound 2nd story porch made of Ipe wood, creating a whole additional living space. The large living room is infused with natural light, giving the feel of living in a treehouse. The open kitchen plan has a state-of-the-art Wolf Range, stone counter tops, and an abundance of cabinet space.

In addition, the first floor, accessed by its own separate garden entrance through large French doors, includes a full bedroom (1 queen, 1 single “daybed”), a half-bath, laundry facilities and a sitting room that can easily work as a guest suite, study or office.
